At Coonfections Maine Coons, weβre devoted to raising healthy, happy, and well-socialized kittens with affectionate, family-friendly temperaments. Our cats are cherished family members first, and each one holds a special place in our hearts and home.
As a TICA-registered cattery, we breed from high-quality European lines, always with the goal of preserving and improving the best traits of the Maine Coon breed.
With over 20 years in the veterinary field and a background in infectious disease research, Iβve always had a passion for animal health, welfare, and genetics. After adopting our first Maine Coon (and then many more), I fell in love with their affectionate natures and often goofball personalities. Maine Coons truly are the βdogsβ of the cat world!
My early experiences with other breeders were eye-openingβthere was love and dedication, but also opportunities to do better. Thatβs what inspired me to start my own cattery focused on health, ethics, and the βsweetβ spirit of the breed.
Weβre a small, home-based cattery in rural Eastern North Carolina. Our kittens grow up underfootβaround kids, dogs, and daily family life. While we have safe, dedicated spaces for nursing mothers and young kittens, theyβre very much part of our home.
We believe our cats thrive best when given ample love, socialization opportunities, and enrichment.
All of our breeding cats undergo genetic disease screening, infectious disease testing, hip imaging, and any other diagnostics recommended by our veterinarian. Only cats who meet our high standards for health and temperament are included in our program.
As an ethical and responsible breeding practice, cats that do not meet our breeding standards are spayed/neutered and are then available for adoption at a reduced rate. Any medical conditions or reasons for exclusion from our breeding program are disclosed with prospective families prior to adoption
At this point in time, our cattery is focusing on breeding high quality kittens with the following attributes:
-No genetic defects such as HCM or PKD
-Sweet, affectionate, and playful temperaments
-Strong, bold, majestic facial structure without causing predispositions to eye-related problems such as entropion
-A variety of coat colors and patterns with a focus on Red Cream, Torbie, and Blue coat colors with an emphasis on silver/tabby coats with white markings.
We stand behind the health and wellness of every kitten we raise. All kittens go home with a health record, age-appropriate vaccinations, a vet exam, and a written health guarantee. Our health guarantee covers genetic conditions and congenital issues for 5 years. Should any concerns arise, weβll work with you to ensure your kittenβs well-being and support you through any next steps.
For further information, please review our Kitten Health Guarantee or reach out to us with any questions.
Our kittens go home at 16 weeks of ageβthis allows them to complete their kitten vaccines, be spayed/neutered, and grow into confident, well-socialized companions.
To protect both our kittens and our clients, we do not require deposits and encourage all adopters to visit our home and meet our available kittens prior to adoption. We understand how important it is to choose the right kitten for your family, and weβre happy to help guide you in the process.
We operate with a waitlist system and reach out in the order inquiries are received. As a small cattery, we expect just 1β2 litters per year, but are always happy to refer you to trusted fellow breeders if we donβt have current availability.
Weβre passionate about sharing these incredible cats with others. If the cost of a kitten is a barrier, we encourage you to consider adopting an older kitten or a retired adult cat from our program.
We believe learning never stops. At Coonfections Maine Coons, weβre committed to staying informed and sharing our knowledge with others.
