Their gentle temperament, playful intelligence, and loyal nature make them excellent family pets. They're often described as βdog-likeβ in their behavior and are known for being affectionate without being clingy.
Maine coons are also one of the largest cat breeds with females averaging 11-18 lbs and males averaging 15-25 lbs. While they grow a lot in their first year, Maine Coons do not reach their full growth potential until they reach 3-4 years of age.
We believe in breeding healthy, happy kittens with affectionate, family-friendly temperaments. This begins with exceptional care of our parent catsβincluding comprehensive genetic and disease screeningβand continues with thoughtful pairing based on both temperament and health. Our kittens are raised in a loving, enriching home environment to encourage confident, cuddly personalities.
All of our breeding cats are tested for genetic diseases common in the breed (such as HCM and SMA) as well as hip dysplasia. While there is currently no genetic testing for polycystic kidney disease (PKD) or stomatitis we monitor our cats for signs of these conditions as there are known breed predispositions to these diseases. We also perform routine screening for intestinal parasites, viral respiratory pathogens, and feline blood borne pathogens such as mycoplasma and bartonella.
Yes! We provide a comprehensive 5-year kitten health guarantee. While our health guarantee primarily focuses on genetic diseases, our goal is to always provide families with healthy, happy kittens overall. Please review our Kitten Health Guarantee & Adoption Contract and reach out to us if you have any specific questions or concerns.
Yes, our cattery is registered with The International Cat Association (TICA).
We focus on cheerful, lighter colors like red, cream, white, calico, tortie, and silver variations. We also love producing patterns with white (bicolor, harlequin, or van patterns). Our goal is to provide a variety of beautiful, sweet-tempered kittens.
We do not currently show our cats. Our primary focus is on breeding cats with excellent health, strong structure, sweet personalities, and loving temperaments while maintaining the breed standard and genetic diversity.
We are a small, home-based cattery in Pikeville, North Carolina. Visits are welcome by appointment for serious adoptersβwe love showing people where our kittens are raised and how we care for them.
Start by reaching out via email or Facebook. We'll send you a brief questionnaire to get to know you and help match you with the right kitten. After answering any of your questions and confirming your interest in adopting from our program, we will add you to our waitlist.
We maintain an ongoing waitlist and contact families in the order inquiries are received. We generally do not take reservations until kittens are 10β12 weeks old and individual personalities have emerged. This ensures the best match for both kitten and family.
Once kittens are 10-12 weeks old, waitlist families are given a 48hr window to confirm intent to adopt by scheduling a virtual or in-person visit and reserving the cat/kitten of their choice. If unable to adopt, or if specific kitten of interest is unavailable, waitlist members will have the opportunity to remain on the waitlist for the next available litter.
Occasionally, we sell kittens with breeding rights to approved programs. These kittens are priced higher or may be exchanged for breeding-quality kittens that complement our lines. Please reach out to discuss your goals and breeding standards.
Our pricing is as follows:
Our pricing reflects the cost of high-quality veterinary care, testing, and ethical breeding practices. We put many hours of love and care into every kitten we raise.
We also believe that every family that can provide a safe, loving home should have the opportunity to have one of these gentle giants in their lives. Therefore, we offer our retired adults at a more attainable price for those that would like to experience the joy of owning a Maine Coon cat but may not be able to afford the higher upfront cost of a newborn kitten
We do not require deposits due to the high number of scam Maine Coon catteries currently targeting pet buyers. We understand the hesitation that most prospective owners have with paying a deposit prior to meeting the kittens and touring the cattery.
After reserving a cat or kitten, we require that full payment be made prior to scheduled pick-up date. Payment can be made in cash or electronically through PayPal, Apple Pay, or Venmo.
**Please note that some electronic payment services may have daily purchase limits and payment may have to be split over a two-day period. In this case, full payment must be made before reserved cat or kitten can be released for adoption.
Both male and female Maine Coons make wonderful companions, but they do have some general differences:
Males are usually larger (15-25 lbs) and tend to have playful, outgoing, and sometimes silly personalities. They often love being in the spotlight and are very people-oriented.
Females are typically smaller than males (11-18 lbs), though both grow into large, majestic cats over time. Females can be just as loving but may be a bit more independent and thoughtful, forming deep bonds with their chosen humans. Only females can be tortoiseshell or torbie in color, while both sexes can be red, cream, silver, or carry white markings.
Yes! Occasionally we have adult cats retiring from our program. These cats are loving, social companions and make great pets for the right homes. We offer our retired cats at a reduced rate in an effort to introduce this amazing breed to prospective families who may not, otherwise, be able to afford the upfront cost of a kitten.
Our cattery has always preferred premium quality Purina Proplan or Purina One dry food cat as a primary, balanced source of nutrition, supplemented with a high moisture, high protein wet food.
Being in the veterinary field, we have always had the best experience with Purina products. They have high quality control standards and (in our opinion) do not have the high number of recalls that are found in other commercial cat food companies. Their food is also formulated by veterinary nutritionists to ensure a balanced diet with all
of the nutrients cats need for healthy growth and development.
While there are a lot of different opinions in the Maine Coon community regarding feeding a raw diet, we believe that the efforts needed to ensure a balanced diet with appropriate supplements to meet nutritional guidelines, paired with the disease risks associated with storing/processing of raw meat do not make this a viable feeding option for most families.
Their semi-long fur is surprisingly low-maintenance. Weekly brushing is usually enough to prevent tangles.
Maine Coons are not considered hypoallergenic. However, some people with mild allergies tolerate them well due to their grooming habits and coat texture.
Regular nail trims and dental care are also recommended.
Absolutely! Our kittens are raised in our home and are regularly handled and played with from an early age. They are accustomed to children, dogs, household noises, and a variety of enrichment opportunities. Additionally, all of our kittens are fully litter-trained before going to their new homes.
Yes. All pet kittens are altered before leaving our cattery, as part of our commitment to responsible breeding.
Kittens go to their forever homes at 16 weeks of age. This allows time for full socialization, completion of their full kitten vaccine series (FVRCP, FeLV, and Rabies), and spay/neuter prior to adoption.
Each kitten comes with:
We recommend bringing a secure carrier, a soft blanket, and a calm demeanor! We'll also send you home with supplies and resources to help ease the transition.
At this time we do not offer any shipping or delivery services. We encourage serious adopters to visit our cattery to pick out their new family member.
Yesβour website has an Education & Support section with helpful guides. We update it regularly with topics like feeding, grooming, and transitioning to a new home.
We want to be a lifelong resource for our kitten families! We're always here to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer supportβeven long after adoption day.
We ask that all of our adopters contact us first. Weβll help find a new home or take the cat back if needed. Our cats always have a place with us.β€οΈ
